Summary (Max. 200 words in English, German, Spanish, French or Italian)
Studying about Getto Lodz in a different way.
Ghetto Lodz was one of the largest ghettos during the Holocaust with a very interesting and symbolic story. There are many known details about the life in the ghetto, and quite a few pictures and documents have survived the war. Pupils can learn much about life and death during the Holocaust from the story of Ghetto Lodz.
We think that this story should be told in a different way, one that can allow the pupil to understand the subject better from a more personal point of view. For this reason we have developed the Ghetto Lodz project.
The pupil is asked to choose one of the subjects offered on the site, and learn more about it. The site includes links to different sites in the internet about the ghetto, and suggestions of books found in libraries. Than the pupil should answer the questions on the chosen subject. He can also use a personal testimony of one of our teacher’s mother, who survived the ghetto
The pupil should write and present a written paper on his subject, and then must pass an oral exam The Ghetto Lodz site has existed for about two years now, and we know that other schools have been using it successfully.
We hope that in the future we will be able to add more projects such as this on the Holocaust , based on our experience with the Ghetto Lodz project.
